Peonies

Seaside: Woman & Child

This is another study for a painting. Like the previous post, it is painted on cardboard. It is acrylic . 8 5/8 x 11 1/4. I added the woman and child later as a focal point. I think that if I decide to turn this into another painting, I will place the figures more to the left. Those of you who are artists should know that if you paint on cardboard be sure to gesso both sides of this support several times. This is not the type of cardboard that boxes are made out of, but is a heavy type somewhat like mat board!

This is a study for a painting. It is 8 1/2 x 11 (acrylic) and is painted on a type of cardboard! I tried to paint on cardboard after seeing the many paintings by Picasso that our Little Rock museum showed a year or so ago. I did not know that cardboard was such a stable support! But not ideal, I guess.

#59 Old House with Red Roof 18x24 (Sold)

This is the “mate” to the painting shown on Dec. 10. It, too, hung in the bedroom of an Arizona artist for a number of years, and was done by me especially for him and his wife. This painting depicts a house of ill repute at dusk in the west with two customer’s horses tied at the rail.
